As we reported earlier, UEFA were to go on a crucial meeting today, to confirm everything regarding the completion of the Champions League for the 2019-20 season.

In the UEFA Executive Committee meeting on Wednesday, it was decided the Champions League will be completed as a straight-knockout mini-competition, with the quarter-finals up to and including the final being staged in Lisbon.

The final of the Champions League will now be held in the Portuguese capital rather than Istanbul, which was the initial host. Istanbul will now play host to next year’s final.

Games from the last eight onwards will be staged between Benfica’s Estadio de Luz and Sporting CP’s Estadio Jose Alvalade.

The four remaining Round of 16 second-leg ties, including Chelsea’s away clash against Bayern Munich, will be played on August 7-8 and are set to take place either at the home team’s stadiums or in Portugal.

The 4 remaining Round of 16 ties:

Bayern vs Chelsea (3-0)

Juventus vs Lyon (0-1)

Manchester City vs Real Madrid (2-1)

Barcelona vs Napoli (1-1)

A statement from UEFA reads: “The Champions quarter-finals, semi-finals and final will be played as a straight knockout tournament in Lisbon between 12 and 23 August 2020. All these ties will be single-leg fixtures.”
