According to former Liverpool star Danny Murphy, Chelsea will challenge for the Premier League title next season if Chelsea boss Frank Lampard signs a quality centre-back this summer.
“I’ve enjoyed watching Chelsea since Frank took over,” he told talkSPORT. “They go for it.
“It’s interesting with Chelsea because you can argue that the ban gave them the platform and less pressure to put youngsters in who have thrived – when you think about Abraham and Mount and Tomori and all those types.
“Now with the additions of Ziyech and Werner, you’re going to have that really nice balance.
“Yes, you’re probably going to have to lose Pedro and Willian who are two terrific and experienced players.
“But I think Chelsea will be competitive next season.
“I would probably maybe suggest a top class centre-half maybe in the next window.
“I really like watching them and I think Frank is doing a top job.
“He has gone about his business very, very well and there seems to be a real confidence and a buzz about the place.
“The Premier League needs all the top teams buzzing and I think we will be looking forward next season to a much more competitive league.”
