Frank Lampard’s desire to strengthen Chelsea’s attack has just gained momentum with credible sources claiming Chelsea are close to completing a deal for one of Lampard’s top targets.
According to German media outlet Bild, the Blues are close to completing a deal for RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner.
Reports earlier today claimed the German striker has agreed a five year deal with Liverpool but Bild has now rubbished those reports with the media outlet claiming the striker is joining Chelsea and not Liverpool.

Liverpool’s reluctance to pay his release clause of £49 million has seen Chelsea hijack the deal for the German international. Chelsea have reportedly made an offer to pay his £49 million release clause.
Liverpool had reportedly hoped Werner’s desire to join them will push RB Leipzig into lowering the demands for the striker but it seems that hasn’t happened.
Bild claim Chelsea are in discussions with Werner over a five-year-deal which would see him make the switch to west London, with the striker set to pocket €10 million per year.
