According to Simon Johnson, Chelsea defender Ethan Ampadu, who can also play in midfield, will leave the club on loan next season.
The Wales international spent the season on loan at German side RB Leipzig but struggled to get enough game time.
With pre-season expected to be limited, Chelsea boss Frank Lampard won’t have enough time to look at the squad, so Ampadu is expected to leave the club on loan again next season.
When asked if Ampadu’s is in Lampard’s plan for next season after his loan spell at RB Leipzig, Johnson responded on The Athletic: “With pre-season being limited – no fancy tour etc for Frank to look at his squad before the start of next season – I think he will be loaned out again.
“He’s got the ability but hasn’t played a full season for a few years now.
“He has clearly learned a lot at RB Leipzig but not had enough time on the pitch.”
