Despite Timo Werner signing a five year contract with the Blues with wages reported to be £200,000 weekly, the Blues are yet to announce the signing of the German international.
Chelsea were expected to announce the signing of Werner this weekend but that won’t happen due to Werner’s inability to have his Chelsea medical.
According to Raphael Honigstein of The Athletic, quarantine regulations in place due to the coronavirus pandemic is the reason behind the delay of the medical.
On Twitter, Honigstein said: “Delay in the Werner deal is solely down to the practicalities of getting a medical done. He can’t fly to the UK due to Bundesliga Covid-19 regulations and Chelsea docs can’t fly to Germany because they would have to isolate for 14 days upon return.
“Chelsea could use German FA doctors in the meantime but they’re more likely to wait until German season is over on June 27 or quarantine regulations in the UK change.”
