Chelsea have been strongly linked with a move for Bayer Leverkusen star Kai Havertz. The 20-year-old is attracting massive interests from the biggest European clubs and is hot in demand.
Hakim Ziyech is already on his way from Ajax, and the club are on the verge of sealing a deal for RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner, while Bayer Leverkusen’s Kai Havertz is believed to be a top priority for Chelsea.
Havertz is being rated as a £75m signing, but Chelsea have been reminded by CIES Football Observatory’s latest figures value that Mason Mount is the most expensive midfielder in world football under the age of 23 – while Havertz is next on the list.
Mount is believed to have a higher value than Havertz, and in fact the CIES Football Observatory currently value the England international at €102.5million (£91.2million).
That rating signifies that the Chelsea’s youth academy graduate is the most valuable midfielder in world football under the age of 23 and could be categorised among the 20 most valuable players in the world.
Just last season, Mount was playing Championship football with Derby County, but Frank Lampard has given him a chance in the senior team this season, and he hasn’t failed to impress either.
Barcelona star Lionel Messi also rates Mount highly and picked the 21-year-old as one of the youths on the rise.
Speaking about Mount, Messi said: “Having watched him play he has the potential to be one of the best.”
