Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is keen on signing Leicester City left-back Ben Chilwell this summer as he seeks to strengthen Chelsea’s left-back position.
The Blues have already signed Hakim Ziyech from Ajax and are close to completing a deal for Timo Werner of RB Leipzig.
Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has received a huge boost in his pursuit of Chilwell after reports emerged that Leicester City are growing concerned they will lose Ben Chilwell to Chelsea.
According to Daily Mail, Leicester City have already started preparing for life without Chilwell and have identified Southampton left-back Ryan Bertrand as a potential replacement for Chilwell.
Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers believes Bertrand will only cost Leicester City a fraction of the amount they will sell Chilwell to Chelsea, leaving the Foxes with money to strengthen other areas of their squad.
Bertrand, 30, has just one year left on his contract and Southampton are keen to extend his stay at St Mary’s.
Bertrand is well known to Rodgers. Rodgers was a youth coach at Chelsea during Bertrand’s time in the Stamford Bridge club’s academy.
