Chelsea have been strongly linked with a move for Bayer Leverkusen’s midfielder Kai Havertz.
The 20-year-old attacking midfielder is rated as one of the most promising youngsters in the football world, and many top clubs around Europe have been linked with the 20-year-old.
Recent reports claim that the club has taken the next step in the chase of the youngster, but top reporter Fabrizio Romano has confirmed Chelsea’s interest but denied that the Blues have made an offer for Havertz.
“Chelsea are interested in Havertz as many other clubs… not new,” Romano tweeted.
“But no advanced talks, no official bids to the player or received by Bayer Leverkusen. We’ll see on next weeks.”
However, Havertz would likely cost at least £75 million, and former Blue Frank Lebouef has urged the club to make the signing, and insists that he can be the future for Chelsea.
Lebouef, who spent five years at Chelsea as a player, said: “If you have the chance to sign that player [Havertz], you should go for it because he represents the future.
“Chelsea are going mostly for future talents. Werner and Havertz coming in on top of the players they already have is definitely a plus.
“You cannot have enough talented players, it’s always good to have a talent like that in your squad.”
