Chelsea took their preparation to the next step after a 7-1 romp of London side Queens Park Rangers.

Chelsea defeated Reading 1-0 at Cobham in a similar fixture as preparation intensifies ahead of the season’s resumption.

Chelsea youngster Billy Gilmour impressed as he bagged brace in the game. The 19-year-old continued his fine form from before the season’s suspension as he bossed the midfield against QPR. He also showed that he can come up with the goods by scoring a brace.

There was also a brace from Ruben Loftus-Cheek, with Mason Mount, Willian and Olivier Giroud all getting on the scoresheet.

N’Golo Kante having returned to full contact training, started the game as well.

Chelsea will face Aston Villa over the weekend, and Blues youngster Billy Gilmour is indeed pushing for a place in the starting line-up.

Frank Lampard has a full squad to choose from, and one can wonder what his first starting line-up will look like.
