RB Leipzig forward Timo Werner is on the verge of joining Chelsea after reportedly agreeing a five year contract with wages of £200,000 a week.
Chelsea have triggered the release clause in Timo Werner’s contract.
RB Leipzig boss Julian Nagelsmann has now confirmed that Werner’s departure from Leipzig is sure.
When asked about Werner’s future before RB Leipzig’s 2-0 win over Hoffenheim on Friday evening, Nagelsmann told DAZN: “I do not expect Timo to be here next season.”
Just two weeks ago, Nagelsmann admitted he’s struggling to convince Chelsea transfer target Timo Werner to remain at RB Leipzig amid interest from Chelsea.
He told reporters: “There is nothing we can do about it. He knows what he has in Leipzig and also what he has with me.
“I show him that — he gets many chances to develop himself. I don’t know if it will help him that much if I tell him every day.
“A player has to feel that he can get better. If he doesn’t feel that, it wouldn’t do any good if I kept on telling him to stay here.
“In the end, it is his life, his career, he can decide that. I can’t think of anything new to say to Timo.”
