Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek has not featured at all for Chelsea this season after rupturing his left achilles during a post-season friendly against New England Revolution last May.

However, it seems the 24-year-old might have a key role to play in the team as the season resumes, with eight league games left of the campaign for Chelsea.

The Athletic claim that Loftus-Cheek has featured dominantly in preparation for the upcoming games, and their report claims that the Chelsea academy product completed 90 minutes and scored one goal during an inter-squad friendly earlier this month.

According to reports, Lampard has been preparing Loftus-Cheek to play as a left winger in the coming games. The Blues midfielder was played as a left winger and scored twice in a 7-1 win over QPR.

With Callum Hudson-Odoi still yet to recover in time for the season’s resumption, and the short-term future of Pedro and Willian unsorted, Lampard have very limited options in that position.

Do you think Loftus-Cheek will perform well as a left winger if deployed there?
