Since Chelsea’s move to sign Timo Werner from RB Leipzig was announced, many have wondered how Chelsea boss Frank Lampard intends to use the Germany international in the Chelsea team.
With Werner scoring 25 league goals this season for RB Leipzig, many believe Tammy Abraham’s place in the starting XI is under threat.
According to The Athletic, Chelsea boss Frank Lampard intends to use Werner from the left wing with an encouragement to attack the penalty area at every opportunity.
So it isn’t Abraham who should be worried about his position but Christian Pulisic, who has played as a left winger this season.
That is the same role Werner has played at RB Leipzig this season to devastating effect, scoring 31 goals in all competitions.
Werner has played alongside Yussuf Poulsen, the 6ft 4in Denmark international who provides RB Leipzig with a more traditional focal point. Lampard reportedly intends to use Abraham and Werner in the same way.
