With Chelsea preparing to face Aston Villa on June 21, the Blues faced Reading in a friendly game that ended 1-0 in Chelsea’s favour.
Following the intra-squad friendly last Saturday, the Blues stepped up preparation for the restart of the Premier League by beating Reading 1-0 in a friendly played on Wednesday.
However, Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi was missing from the action. The Belgian striker has failed to impress Chelsea boss Frank Lampard ahead of the season’s restart, and was only given around 30 minutes to impress during an intra-squad game last weekend at Chelsea’s training ground.
The 26-year-old striker was left out completely of Chelsea’s friendly against Reading at Cobham on Wednesday, and Lampard might just have given up on the Belgian ahead of the season’s resumption.
With Timo Werner set to join the Chelsea ranks, there’ll be no place left in the team for Batshuayi, and after four years at the club, with three spells on loan, the time might just be rife for a permanent Michy Batshuayi exit this summer.
