Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has sent a strong message to Liverpool and Manchester City by backing Chelsea boss Frank Lampard in the transfer market.
In spending about £90 million in the transfers of Hakim Ziyech from Ajax and Timo Werner from RB Leipzig, Abramovich has thrown his full weight behind Lampard’s plans to take Chelsea back to the summit of the Premier League.
Chelsea’s spending isn’t expected to end with the signing of both players as the Blues are pushing for the signing of Leicester City left-back Ben Chilwell to help strengthen the left-back position.
Lampard believes Chelsea can fight for the Premier League again with these signings and Abramovich has sent out a message that he is willing to spend the cash to ensure Lampard builds a winning team.
Liverpool and Manchester City should watch out for a strong Chelsea team next season.
