Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger played a key role in helping the club sign up Timo Werner from RB Leipzig as he put in some good words of the club to his fellow German international.
Four years ago, Werner moved from Stuttgart to Leipzig, and he has since set the Bundesliga on fire with his goals.
This season alone, Werner has scored 32 goals and created 13 more in 43 outings for the club, proving his importance to the club.
Rudiger who has been in the Premier League since 2017, has faced a number of top Premier League strikers, and he has now likened the new Chelsea signing to Leicester City striker, Jamie Vardy.
“He’s a really big threat to defenders,” Rudiger told Chelsea TV.
“RB Leipzig is a more counter-attacking team but in terms of attacking the defensive line, he’s similar to Vardy. He has a lot of pace and if the defender makes a mistake and loses the ball, then he goes!”
“I would say he’s a quiet, humble guy, always ready to do better,” Rudiger added of Werner’s personality off the pitch.
“I hope he adapts very quickly when he comes because as we all know this competition is different than others.”
