News broke out last week that Chelsea have triggered the release clause in Timo Werner’s contract, as the Blues hijacked the deal from Liverpool to sign the 24-year-old.
Werner’s release clause was due to expire on June 15, but Chelsea triggered the release clause over a week ahead of time.
Chelsea fans have since been waiting for the final confirmation of the deal, and some Blues fans seem to be worried as to whether the deal will go on or not if it surpasses the stipulated June 15 date.
According to a report by Standard Sport, Chelsea are dotting the i’s and crossing the t’s on the deal and the transfer will be officially completed this week after smoothing over a number of minor issues thrown up by the coronavirus pandemic.
Covid-19 restrictions complicated the medical process, but all is in line for Werner to be confirmed as a Chelsea player sooner rather than later.
Werner is believed to have agreed a five year contract with Chelsea, and will earn wages of up to £200,000 per week.
