Two Chelsea players made the Daily Mail Power Ranking after impressing in Chelsea’s 2-1 victory over Manchester City on Thursday night.
Christian Pulisic made the top ten while Cesar Azpilicueta maintained his position in the top ten after another impressive performance for the Blues.
On Pulisic being 8th on the Power Ranking: “It hasn’t always been easy for Pulisic in his first season at Chelsea but the American certainly demonstrated his class against Man City on Thursday night.
“Pulisic seized on a dreadful pass by Benjamin Mendy close to the half-way line and sprinted clear to finish confidently past Ederson into the far corner.
“Competition for places in Chelsea’s forward line is going to be fierce next season and this individual goal, not to mention a fine all-round display, will do Pulisic’s chances no harm.
“And it came off the back of a goal at Aston Villa on Sunday with Chelsea consolidating their top four positions with rivals massing behind them.”
Cesar Azpilicueta moved up one place to 5th: “Chelsea’s captain marvel was excellent as his team came from behind to beat Aston Villa last Sunday, setting up goals for Pulisic and Olivier Giroud.
“The Spaniard is an influential force at right-back and his experience helps balance the youthful exuberance of Frank Lampard’s side.
“Thursday night’s meeting with Man City called for wise heads and Azpilicueta helped keep dangerous opposition at bay to allow Chelsea to spring forward and win the game.”
