Chelsea boss Frank Lampard might have had a full squad to pick from when the players returned from lockdown, but two players are now sweating it out ahead of the season’s resumption for Chelsea.

Chelsea face Aston Villa on Sunday afternoon, and Lampard is ‘sweating over the fitness’ of Reece James and Callum Hudson-Odoi.

Hudson-Odoi is struggling with an ankle injury and is doubtful to play a part on Sunday and James is recovering from a minor knock.

Tammy Abraham seems to have overcome the nagging ankle issue that restricted his playtime prior to the season’s suspension, and Ruben Loftus-Cheek who’s yet to make an appearance this season is set for his first game of the season.

Andreas Christensen is expected to be available for selection despite breaking his finger in training.

After the game against Aston Villa, Chelsea will have a home fixture against Man City followed by a trip to Leicester for the FA Cup quarter-final – all in the month of June.
