According to The Telegraph, Chelsea boss Frank Lampard alongside Petr Cech travelled to Germany to hold a secret meeting with RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner and his father, who is also his agent.

The meeting took place in February during the mid-season break and it helped convince Werner to join Chelsea.

During the secret meeting with Werner, Lampard reportedly noticed the striker’s driven but humble character and was impressed.

The Telegraph also claims Lampard and Cech laid out plans for how Werner will fit into Lampard’s vision for the team.

The visit of Lampard and Cech hugely impressed Werner, his family and his representatives and the striker has reportedly remained in touch with Lampard and Cech ever since.
