With deals for Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner believed to be in the bag, next on Chelsea’s shopping list is a move for Leicester City left-back Ben Chilwell.

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is keen on signing a new left-back, as he has been left unimpressed most times with the performances of Marcos Alonso and Emerson Palmieri.

One stumbling block that has been on the path of the Chilwell deal is the 23-year-old’s transfer fee. Leicester City are hard bargainers, and the Foxes who sold Harry Maguire to Manchester United for £80m are believed to want around that same figure for Chilwell.

Chilwell has a long-term deal with the club which gives Leicester City strong bargaining power, and despite the impact of coronavirus pandemic on club’s financial resources, the Foxes still want a mega fee for Chilwell.

However, according to reports, Chilwell’s desire to leave the club at the end of the season might now force Leicester City to reduce their valuation of the left-back and could be willing to accept up to £50m for the left-back.

Chilwell is believed to be very interested in moving to Chelsea, and the Foxes are eyeing up former Blue Ryan Bertrand as a likely replacement.
