Branislav Ivanovic is hailed as Chelsea’s best right-back in recent years, but the Serbian’s career doesn’t seem to be over despite having left Chelsea three years ago.
Now 36, Ivanovic left Russian club Zenit St Petersburg at the end of the season following the expiry of his contract and Serbian newspaper Novosti reports negotiations are in the ‘final phase’ for Ivanovic to link up with former Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti at Goodison Park.
Ancelotti used Ivanovic to good effect during his time at Chelsea, and the Italian is believed to be looking at another stint with the legendary Serbian.
The 36-years-old defender may not be the force he once was in the Premier League, but Ancelotti values his experience and would want him to help young defenders like Mason Holgate and Jarrad Branthwaite develop their game.
The Serbian won a double with Ancelotti in 2010 and won three Premier League titles, three FA Cups, the League Cup, Europa League and Champions League in nine years at Stamford Bridge before he joined Zenit in January 2017.
