Chelsea skipper Cesar Azpilicueta was part of a three-man defence that held sway against Manchester United in the FA Cup semi-final clash at the Wembley Stadium on Sunday.
The Blues won the game 3-1 and Chelsea’s defence was too strong for United as United’s only goal was from the penalty spot.
Chelsea skipper Cesar Azpilicueta has now blamed his side’s defending for the defeat suffered against Liverpool as the Chelsea defence conceded five goals in that game.
“We were not solid enough defensively against a team with so many options,” said Azpilicueta.
“We conceded five goals which makes it very difficult, even if in the offensive side we looked dangerous and had a couple more chances to score more goals. But when you play against the champions, you need to do more to get points.”
Chelsea now need to get at least a point against Wolves to scale through for a top four finish.
