Chelsea have since confirmed the signings of Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner ahead of next season.
Chelsea don’t seem to be done yet in the transfer market, as the Blues have also been linked with a summer move for Bayer Leverkusen’s Kai Havertz and also Leicester City left-back Ben Chilwell.
Reports claim that Havertz is interested in a move to Chelsea, but will only join the club if Chelsea make top four.
Speaking in his press conference today, Lampard was asked if missing out on top four would make it difficult to sign his transfer targets.
Chelsea manager Frank Lampard was in no mood to discuss probabilities as he insists that he and the club will sort things out at the end of the season.
Lampard replied: “It’s not really a question just for me, it’s a hypothetical one for me to answer before the event, so hence why I don’t jump forward into that.
“We’ve brought a couple of players to the club already which I think shows a real positivity about where we want to go.
“We know the club not being able to do business meant we haven’t been able to bring in or move players out.
“And I think that’s an important thing as much as bringing in sometimes, over the course of time, keep freshening up the squad and keeping the competitive nature of it.
“I know where I want to go with the squad but this has to be a fluid conversation with the club, of course economics will come into it, so we’ll cross that bridge when it comes.”
