Chelsea legend Frank Lebouef insists Chelsea were ‘stupid’ and complacent in the 3-2 defeat to West Ham on Wednesday night.
“That was a complete stupid Chelsea, didn’t give their best, was in possession of the ball, dominating the game, but making so many errors,” Leboeuf told ESPN FC.
“I want to take my hat off to Michail Antonio, who completely dominated two defenders, Christiansen, especially Rudiger, should have had a penalty, but kept on working hard and scored the second goal.
“With all due respect to West Ham, because West Ham did what they had to do, they fought until the end, nothing to say to them to criticise them.
“But, Chelsea thought they were more superior and didn’t show it during that game, didn’t finish, were so slow, no pace.
“And I’m frustrated on top of being upset, they didn’t do what they had to do to get the three points and make sure that they still have the gap of five points [above Manchester United] and go in front of Leicester.
“They punished themselves and they deserved to lose with the performance they gave today and I’m sure Frank Lampard must be as upset as I am.”
