John Mikel Obi was a veteran midfield player for Chelsea, after spending 11 years at Stamford Bridge.
Mikel will eventually leave Chelsea in January 2017, and has since been on a football world tour since leaving Chelsea.
Mikel left for a big money time in China with Tianjin Teda before a six-month loan deal with Middlesbrough and then a move to Turkish side Trabzonspor.
The 33-year-old has been a free agent since leaving Turkish club Trabzonspor by mutual consent back in March.
The Champions League winner is still in hot demand and is attracting interest from Brazil, Belgium and France.
Meanwhile, English sides have also been linked with the former Chelsea midfielder.
According to africanfootball.com, West Bromwich Albion are one of the clubs reported to be looking at Mikel, and they will likely be playing in the top flight of English football next season, as they currently sit inside the top two of the second-tier Championship.
Meanwhile, former Boro boss Tony Pulis was full of praise for the performances of Mikel during his time on loan at the club.
“Since he came into the football club, the level of his performances have been exceptional,” Pulis said.
“He’ll give credit to the other players around him, I’ve spoken to him and he’s done that. You don’t win the trophies he’s won for no reason.
“When you’ve got young players working with a top player who’s won everything in the game, it really inspires them.”
