Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson has established himself as one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League while on loan at Sheffield United.
Henderson has impressed for Sheffield and is highly rated by United. However, Henderson’s path to become a first team player at Manchester United seems too far, with David De Gea still at the helm of affairs.
Chelsea have been strongly linked with a move for Henderson with Blues boss Frank Lampard looking for a new goalkeeper to replace Kepa Arrizabalaga who has struggled a lot this season.
Henderson has now admitted that he’s keen to play for Manchester United.
Speaking to TV3, the 24-year-old said: “I think it’s clear for everyone to know. I want to play for Man United and England. It feels like I always hit a brick wall. Maybe I’ll get the opportunity [to play for United], maybe I won’t.
“Then I’ll have to look down a different avenue. The fans have to remember what David De Gea done for the last nine years – he’s been phenomenal. He’s probably been the best player at United for that time period.
“He should get another opportunity. I’m a young lad. I’m working hard. I’m a fan of the club [United] and I want to play for them. Hopefully I have a career at Man United like De Gea has.”
