Spanish club Barcelona have reportedly won the race to sign Inter Milan forward Lautaro Martinez, according to Spanish media outlet Marca.
The Blues were heavily linked with the Argentine forward before signing Timo Werner from RB Leipzig after reports claimed the Inter Milan forward preferred a Barcelona move.
According to Sky Sports, Premier League rivals Manchester City made a late move for the 22 year old forward but Pep Guardiola is set to miss out.
Meanwhile, former Chelsea striker Hernan Crespo advised his countryman to remain at Inter Milan.
“I would love for [Lautaro] to stay for a thousand reasons,” Crespo told Goal. “He’s in a big team and doing two or three years like this is good.
“You have to live with that pressure of having to play at that level all the time. You need a balance that can give you stay in the same place.
“It seems to me that it would do him good to stay in that sense. He is young and has had many changes.
“This was his first year as a starter, he earned it and the season did not even end.”
