Chelsea will be away to Crystal Palace on Tuesday night at the Selhurst Park, as Frank Lampard will be pushing for yet another win in his quest to seal a top four place.
Palace boss Roy Hodgson has admitted that he is pleased with the job Lampard has done so far, while also admitting that the English trio of Ross Barkley, Mason Mount and Reece James have all benefitted from his reign as Chelsea manager.
Asked about the job Lampard has done since taking charge of Chelsea, Palace boss Hodgson responded: “He’s doing a very good job and I’m very pleased that that’s being recognised. ‘The club did a good job too because they went with young manager, gave him the chance and a mandate to start bringing the young players through.
“He backed those players rather than complain some of the teams around them had spent more money, so Frank got on with that very, very well.
“I have not seen any suggestion from him that he has missed out on major transfers up to now and he has done his work with the players he’s found there that him and Jody Morris knew about.”
Hodgson went ahead to congratulate Lampard on his work so far as he said: “I congratulate Frank on the job he has done so far and just hope I am not congratulating him tomorrow evening.”
Hodgson however wished Lampard ill luck ahead of the game tonight: “I hope I disappoint him.”
