Reports have it that Chelsea are close to announcing the signing of Kai Havertz from Bayer Leverkusen with only the small matter of the player’s personal terms left to sort before a transfer can materialise.
The Blues have led the race for the 21 year old despite interest from the likes of Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, and are reportedly the only club willing to meet the Bundesliga side’s asking price – thought to be around £73million.
The two clubs are yet to agree a fee although it is believed a compromise worth around £73million will get the deal over the line.
Regarding Kai Havertz deal, it is believed that the 21-year-old has already agreed personal terms, with his pay packet set to sky rocket beyond his current €5m-per-season terms with Leverkusen.
Transfer expert Nicolo Schira has given more details on the deal for the German star.
“#Chelsea are in very advanced talks for Kai #Havertz,” Schira wrote on Twitter.
“#Blues have agreed personal terms with him for a contract until 2025 (€8M + add-ons/year) and are preparing the first bid (€70M + add-ons) for #BayerLeverkusen, which want €90M.”
From Schira’s report, it appears that Havertz’s basic wage will be around £120,000-a-week. It doesn’t just end there, as there are add-ons are likely to be based on personal and collective success over the course of a season.
Havertz is one of the most sought after players in Europe, after chipping in 17 goals and nine assists from 43 appearances this season.
