Despite Frank Lampard’s desire to keep Willian at the club, the Blues have failed to reach an agreement with Willian over a contract extension.

Willian’s contract will expire at the end of the season and while the Blues are offering the Brazilian a two year deal, Willian wants a three year deal.

Although recent reports suggest that Chelsea have reopened talks with Willian, nothing concrete has come up yet.

Former Chelsea striker Chris Sutton has hailed the Brazilian as a valuable player, but he believes that he’s replaceable at Chelsea due to the signings of Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner, as well as other players available in the team like Christian Pulisic and Callum Hudson-Odoi.

“I think he’s a really valuable player but the fact [Hakim] Ziyech is coming in and [Timo] Werner and they have players who can play in those wide areas, I think Frank [Lampard] is looking for something a little bit different,” the former Chelsea man told Stadium Astro (via the Express).

“I wouldn’t be surprised to see him end up at somewhere like Spurs if I’m totally honest,” Sutton continued.

“I think he’s still got a good few years in him left.”
