New Chelsea signing Hakim Ziyech was at Stamford Bridge for the first time as a Chelsea player on Tuesday night, as Chelsea defeated Norwich 1-0.
Ziyech has been training at Cobham since early this week, having become a Chelsea player from July 1. However, the game against Norwich was his first chance to watch his new team-mates at Stamford Bridge since November, when the Moroccan starred in a 4-4 draw with Ajax, which helped convince Chelsea he was worth £38million.
Meanwhile, Arsenal legend Ian Wright has hailed the signing and has backed Ziyech to fill the void left by former Chelsea star Eden Hazard.
“The thing with Ziyech is that he’s one of those creative players and when you watch Chelsea, especially at home, I think they were expecting a bit more for their creative players,” the Match of the Day pundit told the Metro.
“And then because of what Eden Hazard did for them, they had one particular player who in that role could make something happen.
“I think it’s a brilliant signing. If he can hit anywhere near the form [he’s shown for Ajax] it’s a fantastic signing.”
