Chelsea midfielder Jorginho has been linked with a summer exit amid interest from Juventus after falling down the pecking order since the restart of the Premier League.
With N’Golo Kante unavailable for the game against Crystal Palace on Tuesday, Chelsea boss Frank Lampard opted for Billy Gilmour over Jorginho.
However, Jorginho has now admitted that he’s surprised with Lampard’s decision and that he doesn’t understand it.
“I don’t really understand it either. In fact, it’s [Lampard’s] choice, right?,” said Jorginho. “It’s the coach’s choice, which we need to accept and work hard to get back the opportunity to help the team, which is the most important thing.
“I’m doing my work, training hard, and I’ll be doing everything to be ready to give my contribution to the team in this path if they need me.”
Jorginho came on for the last ten minutes of the game against Watford, and his presence helped Chelsea dominate the middle of the park.
Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has given a verdict on Jorginho’s Chelsea future following his lack of game time for the Blues.
Lampard revealed after Chelsea’s victory over Crystal Palace on Tuesday that Jorginho still remains in his plan despite his lack of game time.
Speaking about Jorginho’s future, Lampard said: “It doesn’t mean anything for the future of Jorginho, Gilmour or anyone else in the team, or on the impact that Jorginho had on the team in calming the team down with his passes at the end. I know he can give us that and he will continue to give us that.”
