Chelsea suffered a humbling defeat at Bramall Lane, as Sheffield United scored three past Chelsea, without any reply from Frank Lampard’s side.

One of the worst things about Chelsea’s performance was that they couldn’t even trouble Sheffield’s goal.

Willian and Christian Pulisic have been Chelsea’s best players since the restart, and Lampard has blamed his players for not bringing them into the game.

“We matched them and we respect the way they play but we were too slow with the ball, we weren’t even getting our wingers into the game and our wingers have been fantastic since the restart. We weren’t getting them into the game,” Lampard said.

“So we just tried to get more of a control of the game which we did do but we never looked overly threatening.

“They still had the counter-attack. It definitely made us look more solid against their shape but already at 2-0 down you’ve made it difficult for yourself.”
