It has been a breakthrough season for Chelsea academy product Tammy Abraham, in what has been a full season for him in the Premier League.
The young striker has excelled while on loan in the Championship with Aston Villa last season, but this season has been a bigger test for the 22-year-old.
Abraham has been Chelsea’s number 9, a position that even the best of strikers have struggled in for the Blues.
With 16 goals in 40 appearances this season it has been a season with two halves for Tammy Abraham, and Blues boss Frank Lampard has admitted that he can only get better by learning from both experiences.
“This being his Premier League breakthrough season, really,” Lampard said in his press conference.
“At Chelsea, the burden of the number nine shirt and being one of the main strikers was new to him this year. He has taken it on really well.
“He would have learned a lot from the really good patch, and then sometimes the difficult patch. The rest of the story is up to him. It’s about how hard he works, how he takes himself forward now and that is a good position for him to be in.”
