Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has been warned against spending £90 million for Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Kai Havertz.
Former West Ham star Dean Ashton admits Havertz is incredibly talented and would suit Chelsea’s style of play but insists the 21 year old isn’t worth £90 million.
“That would be incredible if it was to come off [the Havertz transfer]. Obviously he’s a wonderful talent and I’m sure he would fit in the system that Frank Lampard wants to play,” Ashton told Sky Sports.
“But if he were to come in, I think there would be some big casualties that would have to leave Chelsea. £90M for me, that’s way overpriced!
“I think he’s been fantastic, but he’s still in the infancy of his career. As such, I would not be spending that much money on him at the moment.
“But if the price were to come down, I think for any of the top sides, he’s a superb talent to bring into your club.”
