Manchester City and Liverpool have been dominant in the Premier League over the past two seasons, and the two sides have left a huge mark in the league, separating them from the rest of the chasing pack.
Man City won the 2018-19 season with 98 points, while Liverpool were just a point behind. In the just concluded season, Liverpool finished as champions with 99 points.
Chelsea and Manchester United look like they can challenge for the Premier League title next season, but Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher doesn’t think that the two sides can mount a title challenge as he believes that the two sides must get up to 95 points to challenge for the title.
Meanwhile, Carragher rates Manchester United over Chelsea as the side that can challenge Manchester City and Liverpool for the title.
When asked who can bridge the gap to Liverpool and City next term, Carragher told Sky Sports: “Manchester United maybe, them or Chelsea.
“But, I’m still not convinced a Chelsea or a United could get 95 plus points, which at this minute means that’s what you have to do basically to be in with a shout for the Premier League.
“It’s not that Liverpool have actually got better this season, it’s just that Manchester City have dropped off and that’s the big difference they’re around the 80-point mark.
“Whether United can really join that race I’m not sure, you’ll have to see what they do in the market really.”
