Jorginho was a key part of Frank Lampard’s squad before the restart of the league, but the Italian has been shunned since the league restarted last month.
Lampard has now decided to play N’Golo Kante as his deepest midfielder, a role which Jorginho occupied for most part of the season.
However, with Kante injured and Mateo Kovacic also injured, it was expected that Jorginho will get his first start of the season. But, Lampard still shunned his vice-captain and gave youngster Billy Gilmour a start in the team ahead of the more experienced Jorginho.
Jorginho was eventually brought on with ten minutes left, and Gary Neville believes that the Chelsea boss has already decided to sell him, with Juventus keen on signing him for Maurizio Sarri.
“You have to think that he [Jorginho] is being managed out of Stamford Bridge,” Neville told Sky Sports.
“I think it’s been clear from the moment Frank Lampard came in that he wants to build a young and hungry squad.
“Look at the way David Luiz was let go. With the way Jorginho has been dealt with, it’s quite clear where Lampard wants to take the team.
“When you think of Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp over the last few years, they don’t veer away from the plan for any player. ‘Frank Lampard has got a clear plan.”
