Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount was in good form against Wolves, as the Blues recorded a 2-0 win to beat Wolves and finish the season in fourth place.
Mason Mount scored the opening goal for Chelsea courtesy of a sublime free-kick, while he assisted Olivier Giroud for the second moments later.
Speaking after the game, Mount joked that he has now usurped Willian as the number one free-kick taker, having scored his first free-kick goal for the club.
Asked if he was given free-kick responsibilities because Willian was not playing, Mount told ChelseaTV: “He was up in the stands so when I walked out in the second half me and him had a little look at each other.
“And I said, ‘I’m number one now, I’m taking the next one’. But he’s obviously brilliant at free-kicks, Marcos as well.”
Probed on the discussion he had to ward off Alonso, Mount continued: “Yeah we both [wanted it]. It was in a brilliant position for both of us really.
“Maybe a bit more favourable from my side, right foot, going away from the goalkeeper. But he’s obviously brilliant at free-kicks as well. So we had a little discussion and I took it.
“It was a bit on the left side, so I could hit it with my right foot and it’s going away from the keeper, So I just said, “I think I’ll score or at least get it on target, it’s a better opportunity for me.
“He let me take it and obviously [it’s gone in]. I’ve had a few this season where I had the opportunity to take it but none have gone in.
“I’ve been disappointed with them this season, but very, very happy that one went in!”
