Frank Lampard is expected to sign a left-back this summer, with Lampard losing trust in his two left-backs.

Emerson Palmieri is set to leave for Inter Milan, and Marcos Alonso will be his second choice in that position next season.

Lampard’s first choice target for the left-back position is Leicester City’s Ben Chilwell. The Englishman is rated a stunning £80m by the Foxes, and recent reports have suggested a deal is in place for the 23-year-old.

Meanwhile, Arsenal fans on Twitter have mocked the deal, as they praised the Gunners deal they concluded for Kieran Tierney last summer for just £25m.

Tierney was a standout player for them last season, following a move from Celtic. However, Chilwell was outstanding at the start of the season with the Foxes, but his form dropped like the rest of his team, as Leicester ended up crashing from third to fifth, following a drastic loss in form.

Even some Chelsea fans have expressed their views on social media that they do not want the club to sign Chilwell, but are rather rooting for Real Madrid’s Sergio Reguilon.

Replying to a tweet Chilwell posted during Bayern’s battering of Barcelona, one said: “Stay away from my club.”

Another said: “Please stay at Leicester. Don’t join Chelsea. Sincerley, Chelsea fans.”

A third bluntly added: “Stay at Leicester bro.”

One more said: “You’re a fraud and I never want to see you at Chelsea.”
