After two transfer windows without many any signing, and just average signings in the previous years, Chelsea are now going for top players from teams across Europe as Frank Lampard plans to strengthen his young side.

Chelsea have already signed up Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner, and the duo were the best players for Ajax and RB Leipzig respectively.

Chelsea are also being linked with Kai Havertz and Ben Chilwell, who are top players in their respective teams.

Chelsea legend Ashley Cole has hailed the Blues transfer decisions so far, and admits that Chelsea aren’t just making good signings but signing top players who are leaders and were the stars of their teams.

“Although the new players that have come in are young, they’ve got experience of playing Champions League, they were stars of their team,” Cole told ESPN.

“They can give that leadership off the pitch and on it as well because we had a lot of leaders when I was a player here.

“They led by example not just by talking, but with their feet, which I feel is more important.

“People can talk. It is easy to talk. But when you are backing it up with quality performances, that’s what makes the difference.”
