The Blues are reportedly close to completing the deal for Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Kai Havertz.
According to Goal reporter Kevin Palmer, Chelsea are in the final stages of discussions with Bayer Leverkusen over the transfer of Havertz, with discussions now focusing on the structure of performance related payments.
Palmer tweeted: “Chelsea are in the ‘final stages’ of negotiations over a deal for Kai Havertz.
“Discussions are focusing on the structure of performance related payments.
“It seems like this is a deal edging towards to a conclusion.”
Meanwhile, Germany legend Lukas Podolski has his doubts Havertz will succeed in Chelsea.
Podolski said, according to The Sun: “He’s a great talent. On the ball he is so creative, but he’s still young — let’s see if he can fit into the Premier League.
“I think he is still missing some strength and power, but he should taste the drink of the Premier League and see if he likes it.
“I did, but I knew I would like it. I’m strong, I have a good shot, I’m from the street, I’m like a pitbull. I knew I could deal with the Premier League with the long balls, the physical side and the referees.”
