According to Daily Mirror, Chelsea are preparing to submit a bid for Manchester City defender John Stones following their Champions League exit.
Chelsea boss Frank Lampard wants to strengthen the Chelsea defence this summer after the Blues conceded 54 goals – more than any other team in the top half of the Premier League last season.
The Blues are leading the race to sign Brighton’s Lewis Dunk in a £40m deal and the report claims Chelsea will still sign Stones even if Dunk joins Chelsea.
Manchester City agreed a £47million deal with Everton to make Stones the second most expensive defender in the world at the time but he has now fallen down at the Etihad Stadium.
Stones played only 25 times over the past campaign with 16 of those appearances in the Premier League.
