Chelsea is building a strong squad ahead of next season, as the Blues have already signed Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner.
Chelsea don’t seem to be done in the transfer market, as Frank Lampard’s side has been linked with a move for Kai Havertz. Chelsea are also expected to sign up a new goalkeeper, a new central defender and a new left-back.
However, former Chelsea interim manager Avram Grant has warned Chelsea to avoid making too many signings, drawing a cue from when Tottenham used the Gareth Bale money to sign players to strengthen their squad, and after numerous signings, the team looked even worse than before.
Speaking to Stats Perform News, Grant said: “On paper they look like good signings and that they can make the team stronger, but we need to wait and see.
“We’ve seen years ago, Tottenham bought a lot of players but they bought too much and many didn’t perform well – eventually Harry Redknapp saved them and did a very good job.
“I think you need to be careful when you sign a player, whether they will be good for the squad, but I’m sure they’ve checked this. It’s not only about quality.”
