Chelsea have been strongly linked with Leicester City defender Ben Chilwell. The Blues are in need of a left-back ahead of next season, and Ben Chilwell is Frank Lampard’s first choice in that position.
Ben Chilwell is highly rated in the Premier League and is seen by many as one of the best left-backs in the league. Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson only recently hailed him among the best three left-backs in the world.
Chelsea are believed to be closing in on the 23-year-old, and Chelsea legend Ashley Cole, who’s seen by many as one of the greatest left-backs the league has ever seen, has hailed the move to sign Chilwell.
There have been this argument among Chelsea fans whether the Blues should sign Chilwell. Some Chelsea fans believe he’s overrated and overpriced, while some are happy with the deal.
We had to take a look at what Ashley Cole thinks of Chilwell.
“I would love to see him at Chelsea,” Cole told talkSPORT back in December.
“He’s doing really, really well at Leicester.
“He’s enjoying the way Brendan plays and his system; he’s got that licence to attack.
“When he’s played for England he’s played well – in his last game he got three assists. He’s shown quality not just on the ball, but one-on-one he can defend and he likes to defend.
“I think he’s quality and I’ve heard he’s a Chelsea fan, too, so I would like to see him here.
