Arsenal have confirmed the signing of former Chelsea star Willian, as the Brazilian joined local rivals, Arsenal, on a free transfer, after his contract came to an end.
Chelsea and Willian were unable to come to terms over a new deal, with Willian wanting three years from the club, while Chelsea weren’t willing to go beyond a two year deal.
Arsenal have confirmed the deal on their official website, and their club technical director Edu told Arsenal’s official website: “I know him very well, since a long time ago because we’ve been working together for the Brazilian national team and of course I was following him because he played for another club.
“He has a lot of fantastic attributes as a person, as a football player of course, his character.
“I’m 100 per cent sure that everybody in the dressing room, the fans, myself and Mikel will enjoy having Willian in our side.”
Willian leave Chelsea after seven years at the club, and the Brazilian made 339 appearances for Chelsea after signing from Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala for £30million in 2013, winning two Premier League titles, the FA Cup, Carabao Cup and Europa League.
