Leicester City left-back Ben Chilwell will be a Chelsea player next season, as the Blues have finally met terms with the Foxes ahead of a possible deal.

Meanwhile, Chelsea fans have been arguing over the best possible left-back Frank Lampard can sign. The left-back position was a problem for Chelsea last season, with Marcos Alonso, Emerson Palmieri and Cesar Azpilicueta all playing in that position but failing to deliver the goods consistently.

The Blues have been linked with the likes of Porto’s Alex Telles and Ajax’s Nicolas Tagliafico, as well as Real Madrid’s Sergio Reguilon, who had a good time on loan last season with Sevilla.

Some Chelsea fans have claimed that Chilwell is overpriced and overhyped, although many see the 23-year-old as one of the best left-backs in the league.

Former Chelsea midfielder Craig Burley has talked about the deal recently. Although he hailed Chilwell’s quality, he admitted that the left-back struggled in the second half of last season, after getting injured.

The former Scotland international told ESPN FC: “He didn’t have a good second half of the season after injuries, the first half was pretty good.

“The real Ben Chilwell is a potential top drawer left-back, he is everything that you need, the pace, the great left foot and the engine that you need to get up and down.”
