Chelsea have signed a top striker in Timo Werner, and the German international is expected to bring his goals to Stamford Bridge next season.

Werner netted 34 times in all competitions for Leipzig in 2019-20 season before moving to Stamford Bridge in a £47.5 million deal.

Werner is expected to be the number one striker for Chelsea next season, ahead of Tammy Abraham and Olivier Giroud.

It was a season of two halves for Chelsea, with Abraham starting the season in good form and Giroud ending the season on a high.

Giroud scored in 8 of Chelsea’s final 12 Premier League games of the season and the FA Cup semi-final, and former Premier League striker Louis Saha has said Giroud will give Werner a tough run in the first team next season.

“Olivier Giroud is a very tough cookie and he will not worry too much about the arrival of Timo Werner at Chelsea,” former Manchester United striker Louis Saha said on the Football Index Podcast.

“Giroud wants to score and he wants to help his teammates. He is a competitor and wherever he is, he will always perform. Giroud is very motivated and I’m sure that next year we will hear about him again.”
