Bayer Leverkusen has been kicked out of the Europa League, after suffering a 2-1 defeat to Antonio Conte’s Inter Milan.

For Chelsea, this is good news, as it now means Kai Havertz season with Leverkusen is over.

Early goals from Nicolo Barella and Romelu Lukaku gave Inter Milan a 2-0 lead, before Kai Havertz scored three minutes later.

Havertz did find the net but there was no comeback for the German side.

Talks have been ongoing between Bayer Leverkusen and Chelsea but no headway has been made regarding a transfer fee, and the German side were keen to have Kai Havertz until the end of the Europa League campaign.

With Bayer Leverkusen’s Europa League campaign now over, we’d be expecting more news regarding Kai Havertz and a possible signing before the new season starts on September 12.
