Despite the financial implications of the coronavirus, Chelsea haven’t been reluctant to strengthen the squad.

The Blues faced two transfer windows without making any signings, and are now the most active club in the transfer market ahead of next season.

Chelsea hijacked Liverpool’s move for Timo Werner and also signed up Hakim Ziyech. Deals for Thiago Silva, Kai Havertz and Ben Chilwell are reportedly close.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has now reacted to Chelsea’s spending spree and thinks that the coronavirus pandemic should have an effect on spending.

When asked about Liverpool’s potential move for Thiago in an interview with Servus TV, Klopp replied: “There are a lot of interesting players out there but if someone is interesting for us I can’t say right now.

“Due to Covid-19 you have to think five times about what you can and what you can’t do.

“We always have to pay attention to the financial aspect. We don’t know how much money will come in.

“Nobody knows but it seems like some other teams have a more positive outlook on the future… if you look at Chelsea for example [laughs].

“But I am very happy with my team right now. If something transfer related will happen we have to see.”
