Lampard close to appointing new assistant manager

According to The Sun, Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is raiding Wigan to add coach Anthony Barry to his first team staff.

Lampard reportedly wants Barry to be his assistant alongside Jody Morris. Lampard reportedly knows the 34 year old from doing courses together.

Barry was in London on Thursday to finalise the move to Chelsea as assistant manager. Lampard is hoping his ideas and knowledge can help the Blues next season.

After leaving first club Coventry in 2005, the ex-midfielder spent all his playing career in the lower divisions and non-League football.
